$1 Million Donation for Teacher Salaries

The Duval County teachers' union and school board have initiated an innovative program to lure good teachers to the toughest schools. Teachers and administrators at the poorest performing elementary schools will receive a $2,000 a year supplement plus extra training and support. The program requires all the salary supplements to come from private contributions. Gary and Steve Pajcic and their wives Sallyn and Anne pledged $1 million to support the program - with the hope that the money would be directed toward Gary and Steve's elementary school Annie R. Morgan, which has fallen on tough times in recent years.
