The Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Committee has selected Curry Gary Pajcic as a finalist for appointment as the next U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. Curry’s name, along with the other two finalists, has been forwarded to Florida’s two U.S. Senators for review. If both U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio approve of the slate, the three names will be forwarded to President Barack Obama for the nomination. The president appoints the U.S. Attorney with confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
The Middle District of Florida is one of the largest federal jurisdictions in United States, spanning from the Georgia line down to Naples, Florida, containing thirty-five of Florida’s sixty-seven counties, and including some of Florida’s largest metropolitan areas (Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville).
Curry is a former prosecutor, having served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he prosecuted serious crimes ranging from Bank Robbery, to Armed Kidnapping, to Trafficking in Cocaine. Curry tried 23 Habitual Offender Felony trials to verdict in a single year his last year as a prosecutor, and was awarded the SAO Jury Trial Award for Outstanding Performance.
